Norwegian skipper Carl Aamodt took the option of steaming his trawler Hunter to Holland for its catch handling deck to be refitted by TCD, the technical arm of the Urk Fishermen’s Co-operative (VCU). He acquired the trawler four years ago to fish North Sea grounds with a crew of three.
“We fish for roundfish for most of the year, but switch to nephrops for the summer. Until now we had been using the catch handling equipment that was on board when we bought the boat four years ago, and which dates back to 2000.
