After years of decline in the fishing industry at the port of Lowestoft, there's a bit of optimism in the air following the arrival of a new addition to the inshore fleet, Maximus LT 1019.
Based on a Cleopatra Fisherman 33 GRP hull and moulded in Iceland by the Trefjar yard, Maximus was delivered by containership at Immingham just before Christmas and arrived in Lowestoft's Hamilton Dock on New Year's Day. She was imported into the UK by DS Marine.
Owned by brothers Steven and Chris Wightman, who are residents of Aldeburgh, the boat will be mainly longlining, although she can also be used for mobile drift netting and gill netting.
