The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) addressed tuna fisheries by issuing the clarification that every fishery can apply for the certification, even if they are not fish aggregating devices (FAD)-free certified.  

The organization clarified its certification is independent from the FAD-free certification, and all the tuna fisheries that comply with MSC standards and successfully pass the assessment will be MSC certified.

In addition, the body said it has not provided a definition of FAD, and that it clearly establishes strict requirements to split certified landings from not certified landings onboard.
