New figures from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) show certified catches increased by 6 percent from 2014 to 2015, while the MSC-certified supply chain climbed 16 percent year-on-year.
According to its latest report, "From Sustainable Fishers to Seafood Lovers," between April 2015 and March 2016, the number of seafood business including processors, restaurants and caterers engaged with MSC chain-of-custody program grew from 2,879 to 3,334 operating across 82 countries.
On a global scale, more than 20,000 products carry the MSC stamp nowadays, the report shows.
