THE FIRST of at least two - and possibly three - GRPhulled inshore sole trawlers has been completed for SeaVuna Fishing at a boatyard in St Helena Bay, South Africa.
She is the 13.85 x 5.00 x 2.20 metre Vuna Liesa built by Tallie Marine and she will bolster the SeaVuna fleet which was badly affected by the loss of Rochelle in April 2005. Rochelle ran aground west of Stilbaai with no loss of life.
Rochelle's sinking and the termination of long-standing catching agreements with other owners of sole boats left SeaVuna with a much reduced trawling capacity to land its sole allocation.
