A few years ago, as the owners and management of the the Bering Sea Alaska pollock catcher-processor Starbound watched the prices of fishmeal and oil rising, they realized it was time to make a shift.

The vessel, built in 1989, was designed with a focus on IQF fillets and blocks -- and without fishmeal and oil processing equipment.
