STAFF at Caley Fisheries pelagic factory found probably the biggest mackerel ever landed in Scotland at Peterhead last week while processing fish caught by the local boat Pathway PD 165, skippered by John George Buchan and owned by Lunar Fishing.

Caley Fisheries general manager Stephen Buchan and factory manager Ian Lake immediately boxed the giant mackerel in ice to retain its quality and size. When the 59cm fish was weighed, it thumped the scales down to 2.42kg - six times the weight of an average mackerel.
