The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that although March Gulf of Mexico shrimp landings were down 1.4 percent from the same month last year, they are 52.1 percent higher than the 16-year average, said the Southern Shrimp Alliance (SSA).

Gulf of Mexico shrimp fishermen landed 3.46 million pounds last month, compared to the 3.51 million in March of 2016, but the average since 2001 of that month is 2.28 million pounds.
