Fraserburgh-based Fisher Foods chose the European Seafood Exposition at Brussels this week to relaunch the renowned Macfisheries brand which was one of Britain's best known high street names 30 years ago.
Ron Burnett, Managing Director at Fisher Foods explained: "Up until the late 1960s we had over 700 Macfisheries fishmongers and minimarts dotted throughout the UK. The emergence of supermarkets in the 1970s, however, forced the company to close down its small retail outlets and become a supplier to the larger supermarket, from a single production facility in Fraserburgh."
