THE new Lugger L984D engine is designed to offer reliable power to smaller vessels and those with tight enginerooms. The new engine is rated 70 hp at 2500 rpm.
This rpm rating allows the engine to drive a vessel without resorting to the 3300 to 4000 rpm speed similar-rated diesels require, says Lugger manufacturer Alaska Diesel Electric Inc. The lower rpm assure smooth, quiet operation while the Lugger's low-end torque gives ample power.
The new four-cycle, four-cylinder, L984D is very clean burning, due to an innovative re-entrant piston design mixing fuel and air for more complete combustion.
