A PROPOSED new initiative at Lowestoft's fish market could provide improve fortunes for the local fishing industry, reports Mick Harrod.
Fish merchants WET Mullender have researched the landing and marketing of tope, and intend to spend months proving that dealing in the species on a large scale is viable.
Tope are present seasonally along the coast of East Anglia from around June to October - a season which could lengthen as the seas get warmer. They are also found in many fishing areas around the UK over a much longer period.
