THE DEATH has occurred of Lowestoft's well known town and port historian, Jack Rose, at the age of 74. His funeral was held last Thursday and it was a mark of Jack Rose's popularity and contribution to the life and community of Lowestoft that more than 500 mourners attended.

A memorial service was held in the Sparrows Nest at Lowestoft last Sunday, when a Book of Remembrance was opened for signatures.

Born in the Beach Village, the town's historic fishing community, Jack Rose first went to sea with his father in longshore vessels.
