The entire series is built on the yard’s 23.5NG design, and CMN’s research and development manager Thierry Regnault explained that the trawlers and the longliners have a completely different layout above main deck level, as well as differences in the engine rooms, with the trawlers built with controllable pitch propellers turning inside nozzles and a single genset, while each longliner has a pair of gensets.

The longliners are built to catch tuna and swordfish, with catches frozen to -40°C in freezing tunnels on board, and then stored at -20°C in refrigerated fishrooms capable of storing 30 tonnes of wholefrozen fish located forward of the main engine space.
