A QUARTERLY report issued by Cornwall Sea Fisheries Committee revealed how a rare albino lobster called Ariel met its demise at the hands of hungry holiday makers.

A local fisherman donated the 15year-old lobster to Newquay Sea Life Centre three years ago.

After the lobster was discovered missing one morning a search of the local area was launched which unearthed the dying embers of a barbecue fire and a discarded box of the right size to hold the creature.

The Newquay Sea Life Centre fears that Ariel became a hearty lunch for holiday makers.
