Brixham fish wholesaler Langdon & Philip has invested in its fifth beam trawler, the 30 metre registered length Lady Maureen skippered by Geoff Cudd.
The owner obtained the licence capacity units and track record required to bring her into the fleet by buying and selling three older beam trawlers – Grietje, Pieter and Mareverma – to amalgamate their three licences.
No longer able to fish in UK waters, Mareverma is due to head south to the Canary Islands to become a charter boat, Grietje will become a house boat in Madeira and Pieter "is still for sale", says Dave Langdon.
