Karstensens Shipyard signed the contract to build the new Haugagut in June 2013 and in May this year the new pelagic trawler/purse seiner was christened at its home port of Torangsvåg in Austevoll in western Norway.
Built the the yard’s own design, Haugagut is built on a hull constructed in Poland and tugged to the Karstensen yard in Skagen for fitting out, with the steelwork arriving at the yard in August last year.
Operating company Haugagut AS is a subsidiary of Drønen Havfiske, which also operates the Storeknut.
