Jonty Jankovich-Besan, Managing Director of I&J

I&J, an AVI subsidiary and South Africa’s leading deep sea Cape Hake fishing company, announced recently that it had invested more than half a billion rand (ZAR) / US$4.6 million into acquisition of three fishing vessels and the upgrading of its existing Cape Town-based processing facility. This would position the company for significantly increased efficiency and capacity, and create 75 new jobs to add to I&J’s 1,500-strong workforce.

Jonty Jankovich-Besan: I&J, an AVI subsidiary, is South Africa’s leading deep sea Cape hake fishing company.

Based in Cape Town, I&J has been operating since 1910 and operates primarily in the South African hake fishery. The company has two Cape Town factories – Woodstock Primary Processing, where fresh fish is processed each day from the daily vessel landings, and Paarden Island Value Added Plant, where coated and sauced products are manufactured.
