Skippers on the Isle of Barra have been active again in recent weeks as the highly encouraging build up of the local fleet continues to gather momentum.
Angus McLeod has bought the 20m twin-rig prawn trawler Aquarius INS 1034. Previously skippered by Ross Skinner, this boat regularly engaged in seasonal prawn fishing from a number of Scottish ports, including Lochinver, Fraserburgh and Eyemouth.
The wooden-hulled Aquarius AH 147 was built by Gerrard Bros of Arbroath in 1974 as a seine netter for local skipper David Cargill.
