TRAWLER owners are now adopting traceability for their catches, Icelandic tub supplier Saeplast tells FNI at the Seafood Processing Exposition held at Brussels late in April.
Icelandic trawler owner Fisk Saudarkrokur is now using 800 Saeplast tubs and a complete tracing system to track fish from the hold right through the processing system. It is using an electronic registration system on the tubs to log vital data.
The European Union is keen that fish can be traced back to its source. Now, fish processors, merchants and vessel owners are beginning to understand the advantages of traceability.
