THE ICELANDIC owners of Hull trawler firm Boyd Line have sold the firm to Dutch trawler operator Parlevliet & Van Der Plas and Aberdeen-based Onward Fishing Company in a £13.2 million deal.

Onward Fishing Company is a subsidiary of Icelandic firm Samherji.

This is Boyd's second change of ownership in less than two years, coming only 16 months after the Hull company was sold in a £7m deal to Icelandic fishing and seafood company UA, part of Eimskip Ltd.

Boyd Line now operates just one trawler, Arctic Warrior, compared with 22 in its hey day in 1974, including two of the biggest and most modern freezer trawlers in the world, Arctic Galliard and Arctic Buccaneer.
