Gardenstown Skipper Willie Ritchie's new 15.75m trawler Headway PD 346 is aptly named as she features several developments seen for the first time on a large UK vessel - including the ability to tow three trawls at once.
Headway is the result of some deep forward thinking by Willie Ritchie and close liaison with the trawler's designers and builders Macduff Shipyards.
She has the larch planking on oak frame construction and the classically grained aluminium wheelhouse of a traditional Scottish prawn trawler - but that's where the resemblance ends.
