The first new vessel in Icelandic company HB Grandi’s ambitious newbuildings program has been delivered by the Celiktrans Deniz Insaat yard in Turkey. Built to a Sawicon design, the company’s two new pelagic vessels, Venus NS-150 and Víkingur which is due for delivery at the end of the year, are similar to Börkur (ex-Malene S) and Sigurdur (ex-Magnarson), both of which were ordered by Norwegian companies but were both quickly sold to Icelandic operators – in the case of Sigurdur, while the new vessel was still under construction.
