Seattle-based management company Global Seas announced the launch of its new F/V Defender and will christen it on Saturday at Patti Marine Enterprises, Inc. in Pensacola, Florida. The new Bering Sea Inshore Pollock vessel will be the largest wet-fish trawler in the country, said Global Seas.

They anticipate the 170-foot long vessel to arrive in Seattle by May. This is the second project Global Seas commissioned from Patti Marine, which worked with Jensen Maritime to complete the vessel rebuilding.

The vessel was previously the 165-foot long Western Venture, which came from New Bedford, Massachusetts last year as a conversion project.
