Skipper Connolly is a longstanding customer of Pepe Trawls of Howth and Supreme II left on her maiden trip at the end of April equipped with an extensive arsenal of twin rig trawls from the firm, including prawn, scraper and whitefish gear.
Intended for use on clean ground, the 40 fathom twin rig prawn trawls are set on a traditional leaded grassrope footrope, while the 45 fathom prawn scraper nets are rigged on 40 fathom of 2.5in rubbers.
These four trawls each have 600 mesh fishing circles, with 80mm mesh used in the lower sections of the wings and 160mm mesh in the top section.
