The increased number of boat sales that were a particularly encouraging feature of the last twelve months continued right up to December to easily make 2007 the busiest since 2002 for vessel transactions.
The increased interest in secondhand vessels, which has long been considered to be an accurate barometer of confidence in the fishing industry, reflects the improved stocks and stronger demand which fishermen saw throughout the year.
With several new vessels ordered in recent months, a trickle of more modern boats continues to enter the secondhand market.
