Fishing association: North Sea fishing more sustainable, profitable

Fishing in the North Sea has become more sustainable and profitable in recent years, the German fishing association Deutscher Fischerei-Verband said.

Both fish stocks and catch quotas have risen significantly between 2011 and 2017 since total allowable catches (TACs) are being made based on scientific recommendations.

In 2013, the new Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) was adopted, setting a "new course for the rebuilding of stocks."

Now, the "impressive" results are showing, the association said. All in all, it means more fishing opportunities compared to six years ago.
