LUNAR BOW is the first Scottish pelagic vessel to be fitted with the Marport purse/trawl net monitoring system, which displays the readings from catch, depth and temperature sensors on a flat screen monitor. There is also a Simrad FS-903 Trawl Eye system, receiving signals from four Simrad FA 701 catch sensors strapped to the bag.

The Marport kit and all the electronics package was supplied and installed by Woodsons of Aberdeen, continuing their long association with the Buchan family.

The underwater 'eyes' of the ship are provided by two Kaijo scanning sonars, operating on 28kHz and 164kHz and with flat screen displays.
