The latest shellfish boat to leave Cygnus Marine at Penryn in Cornwall is a Cyclone 30 fast potter for a partnership between Skipper Peter Smith of Buckie and his son, Skipper Sean Smith.
Working the new 30ft potter is a far cry from the eight day trips Peter Smith is used to aboard his existing vessel, the big 33m twin-rig trawler, Victory (BCK 16), but their substantial investment represents a commitment by both partners in the day trip shellfish industry.
Their new vessel is "a fine boat" said Peter Smith.
