The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) said Friday Taiwanese officials have investigated human rights violations aboard Fuh Sheng 11, but shark finning has been left unpunished.

EJF said it has documented gross human rights violations and serious illegal fishing offences aboard Fuh Sheng 11 – the first vessel in the world to be detained for violating new international standards of decent work in the fishing industry, according to the nonprofit.

"This is a positive step but came only after an investigation conducted by the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), significant pressure from NGOs and substantial media attention," the EJF said.
