A NEWLYN skipper who put half a tonne of good quality white conger eels ashore at the port received only 10p per kg for his day's catch.
He told FN that while Newlyn fish prices in FN regularly showed large eel prices to be around 80p-£1 per kg, the auctioneer told him there was no market for the species.
