VISITORS are cleaning up Cumbria's mussel beds, according to two Silloth fishing brothers. In a joint statement, after a meeting of Cumbria Sea Fisheries Committee, Wilf and John Morgan claimed: "We have watched Welshmen handrake loads of mussels from Silloth. Mussels are allowed to be taken too immature.

"Visitors do not know when a mussel is immature. We do.

We take mature ones for the French market. We are trying to sustain mussels in the Solway and want to keep the beds for locals."
