KILKEEL fisherman Colin Donnelly (30) drowned last Wednesday after the 32ft wooden hulled crabber Emerald Dawn sank suddenly while fishing five miles east of Annalong.

A second crewman, 28 year old Shane Murnaghan, was rescued after spending 21 hours in a liferaft, during which time he drifted 25 miles east across the Irish Sea.

Emerald Dawn is thought to have capsized without any warning shortly after 14.00hrs last Wednesday (10 November). The rescue services were alerted when the boat failed to return after being expected at about 13.00hrs.
