Caithness Creels doubles output

WICK company Caithness Creels has doubled its weekly production of shellfish pots since moving into new premises in July.

Supported by Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise with additional PESCA funding, the move to more spacious premises has enabled Managing Director John Sinclair to take on extra staff.

Since opening the new creel factory, the workforce of Caithness Creels has increased from 20 to 27 and is scheduled to reach 34 early next year. This has resulted in the average number of creels manufactured weekly rising from 400 to 800.
