A FISHERMAN has died at sea after an accident aboard the 130ft Banffregistered trawler Solstice II .
Ronald 'Jocky' Allan, a 32-yearold father-of-two from Whitehills, was said to have suffered severe injuries after he became trapped in a winch. He had been a crewman in the ship for about a year.
The Solstice II was fishing in calm seas 300 miles out in the Atlantic near Rockall early last Saturday morning (13 May) when the accident occurred.
Relief skipper George West and his crew immediately hauled in their gear and steamed for the west coast port of Lochinver where Mr Allan's body was landed on Sunday.
