A combination of increasing fuel costs and a prolonged general shortage of whitefish continues to slow down the sales of secondhand boats. Activity in recent weeks for the larger class of boat has been centred on the Northern Isles, where several skippers have been involved in transactions.
The biggest vessel on the move is the twin-rig trawler Vandal (LK 337), which has been operated by Duncan Cumming and his sons Angus and Trevor of Burra Isle since the 112ft triple decked vessel was delivered in 1997 from Poland by the Parnica Shipyard, Szczecin.
