Alaska pollock producers continue to ride the wave of favorably high wholesale prices, but that may not be enough to protect the industry from a waning domestic seafood market brought on by extreme inflation.

Year-on-year, overall US frozen seafood sales were down 7.4 in June at $520 million (€516.2 million), according to data released by IRI and analyzed by Texas-based market research firm 210 Analytics.

While Alaska pollock was not specified in the IRI report, several executives in the industry told IntraFish it remains unclear whether current fillet block prices of $5,000 per metric tons for existing customers will hold beyond the "B" season, which started in June and runs through October.
