Aker BioMarine has commissioned the shipbuilder Vard Holdings Limited (VARD) to construct a new NOK 1 billion (€112.6 million/$119.6 million) environmentally friendly krill vessel for fishing in Antartica.
The vessel will be built in Norway.
The new krill vessel is 130 meters in length, have a beam of 23 meters, and will be equipped with the latest in green technology.
Aker BioMarine will seek funding for the build through the Norwegian Guarantee Institute for Export Credits (GIEK).
