An electric powered net hauler new to the UK market has undergone trials from Dartmouth "with very positive results", says Simon Sharp, the UK agent.
The Brutus Net Hauler is manufactured by Canadian firm Ace Line Haulers, which also manufacturers the Brutus pot hauler, and is distributed throughout Britain by Simon Sharp Marine Services.
"Like the Brutus pot hauler it is powered by a simple electric motor driven by a 12V power supply, " Simon Sharp says.
"It has remarkable pulling power. I have tried to physically stop the unit by using my hands to hold back the drum - it might pull a bit slower, but I cannot stop the drum, it's like the Brutus pot hauler, it has amazing strength.
