Built by Danish yard Vestvaerftet ApS for Union Hall skipper Niall Deasy and his dad Bill Deasy, Ocean Pioneer S 45 is an extremely interesting and forward looking vessel.
This reflects the planning the owners have given to their new build project, and the close working relationship established with the Hvide Sande shipyard where Ocean Pioneer was built, after the hull and superstructure were constructed under sub-contract at the Riga Shipyard in Latvia.
The Danish yard also designed the vessel.
Ocean Pioneer's main fishing will be twin-rig trawling for prawns on the deeperwater grounds of the Porcupline Bank west of Ireland and east to The Smalls, although Skipper Deasy expects to continue his well established short spells of seasonal pair-trawling for tuna and herring.
