The Isle of Man resident scallop fleet has been boosted in recent months with the arrival at Peel of three modern boats, including two similar under-12m beam scallopers.

The first to arrive was William Henry NN 711, which Peel skipper Brain Horne bought from Bickerstaff Fishing Company in Newhaven.

Newbury Engineering launched the 13.95m steel-hulled William Henry in 1999, since when the versatile mini-beamer/trawler, which is powered by a Cummins 179kW engine, fished from Newhaven until moving west to the Isle of Man.
