A £1M INVESTMENT has been made in the future of the fishing industry at Scrabster in the far north of Scotland.
Caithness fish trading company Scrabster Seafoods has matched grants of about £490,000 to fund a state-ofthe-art fish grading building with a flake ice machine and freezing facilities.
Scrabster Seafoods owner William Calder said the venture was a vote of confidence in the fishing industry at the northern port.
The Scottish Executive awarded Scrabster Seafoods £199,000 and Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise added a further £290,000.
