Continuing the streak of European salmon farmers impacted by disease problems and low spot prices, The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) saw its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) before biomass adjustment fall in the third quarter of 2012 to £0.13 million (€161,005/$208,195), from £0.69 million (€854,563/$1.1 million) earned last year.

The results were impacted by costs associated with spiraling feed costs, amoebic gill disease (AGD) -- which affected the Scottish industry as a whole -- and the weaker spot price of salmon, and is expected to continue into Q4.
