Chilean salmon farmer Nova Austral widened full year losses in 2020 to $81 million (€67.1 million) from $2.2 million (€1.8 million) a year earlier.

This came despite a 12.5 percent increase in revenues to $145.3 million (€120.3 million).

Financial results were dented by an increase in the cost of sales to $149.8 million (€124 million) from $118.8 million (€98.4 million).

Salmon farmers around the globe were hit by low prices in 2020 sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic, as demand from the foodservice sector collapsed with restaurants, bars and cafes closed for extended periods.
