Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged $62.5 million ($44.4 million/€41 million) to support the Canada's seafood industry, which is deemed an essential sector in the wake of the coronavirus-stricken economy.
The funds will support processing plants in protecting workers, increasing health protocols and buying new necessary equipment to prolong shelf life.
