Benchmark Holdings, through its subsidiary Genetica Spring, is acquiring the aquaculture breeding programs owned by the Center of Aquaculture Research in Colombia (Ceniacua) and some related business, in a transaction worth $2.17 million (€1.9 million).
Subject to approval, the deal will see Benchmark's subsidiary take ownership of Ceniacua's freehold land, buildings and assets.
The acquisition will add a third species, shrimp, to Benchmark’s aquaculture breeding business in salmon and tilapia. As well as shrimp, Ceniacua also operates breeding programs for the marine finfish species cobia and grouper.
