Oslo-listed salmon farmer Leroy Seafood is doubling its kelp production to about 300 metric tons, primarily supporting the animal feed industry, Technical Manager Harald Sveier told IntraFish.

Leroy is currently one of two Norwegian salmon farmers involved in kelp production. However, Leroy's operations are three times larger than the next largest producer, Sveier said.

Co-farming kelp is part of the company's strategy to reduce its carbon footprint.
