Global feed supplier Skretting has shut down its US processing plant in Utah, moving operations to a bigger Canadian plant in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Trevor Stanley, managing director for Nutreco-owned Skretting North America, told IntraFish in an email that the company shuttered its Tooele, Utah-based feed processing plant in July in response to unfavorable market conditions, as well as decisions in Canada's British Columbia that have reduced aquaculture operations in the province in recent years.
"Skretting has taken decisive actions to successfully navigate the current market conditions in western North America, which has seen a flat USA market and 40 percent reduction in the British Columbia salmon aquaculture industry since 2020," he said.
