China has approved the delivery of fishmeal and fish oil by new trawlers built under Russia’s state-backed investment program, an industry association said, increasing access to a huge potential market for Russia’s rising production of aquaculture feed ingredients.

An updated list of Russian production facilities cleared to supply the Chinese market includes new trawlers belonging to the Russian Fishing Company (RFC) and Atlantrybflot, a subsidiary of FOR Group, the Russian Fishery Shipowners’ Association (FSA) said in a statement.

“The inclusion of new Russian trawlers … in the list of fishmeal suppliers to China has eliminated a non-tariff barrier for them,” FSA President Alexey Osintsev said in the statement, which referenced a list published by China’s General Administration of Customs.
