Robert Downey Jr.-backed insect protein company Ynsect has managed to raise a significant amount of money since its foundation in 2011, putting it in the pole position for supplying what could be a significant source of alternative protein for aquaculture feed.
To date, the company has raised more than $500 million (€456 million) from investment funds, banks and public institutions.
This amount is as much as all other insect meal producers combined, Ynsect CEO Antoine Hubert told IntraFish.
The company's solid war chest is backing some significant developments and growth plans.
