Recent increased focus on feed's nitrogen utilization is a significant development for the aquaculture industry, executives at US feed giant Cargill told IntraFish.
The move represents a shift from traditional protein-centric formulations to more precise nutrient management, which in turn can help improve feed's cost-efficiency, reduce nutrient waste and support environmental sustainability.
Over the past three years Cargill has implemented a concept based on this new approach, called Essential Nitrogen, in millions of fish in the North Sea, Canada and Chile.
